My 1998 Camaro has just recently started doing this. I pull off from a gas station or traffic light and hit the gas probably 3/4 throttle. The car accelerates but shortly after acts like it shifts straight to 2nd then 3rd then 4th. I push the pedal all the way to the floor and it won't downshift. If I let off the gas altogether and then hit it again, it will downshift normally. Also, while its shifted all the way to 4th, if I put the shifter in first or second, it will downshift and accelerate like normal. Has anyone had this happen to their car? Its driving me nuts and one of the many reasons I HATE an automatic Transmission. Any help would be appreciated.

Likley and issue with the TPS would be my guess .
