Default Stall and gears

I called one of the local transmission shops here to ask about getting a 3600 stall put in my 98 formula. The guy basically told me if i was going with a stall that big i can't have the lockup and it would be absolutly horrible to drive on the streets having to run the car up to 3600rpms everytime i leave a stop sign and so on... He told me instead to go with a set of 4.56 gears in the rear end..

maybe i'm missing something but i know alot of you guys are running bigger stalls then 3600, how is it to drive on the street? I have done a lot of research and reading on stalls to figure out what i want and i have not seen anything like what this guy was telling me..

+1 !! 456's ??/ WTF !!! I have an A4 with a Yank SS4000 stall and 373s . No problems .My converter locks after 40 mph . So it drives completely normal .Around town the stall is noticeable unlocked ,but not too bad with gears . It goes up to @ 2200 -2500 on normal acceleration . From a dig ,, watch out !! I love it . A 3600 stall with 342s or 373 would be a very nice improvement

I also have A4 with Yank SS4000 with 373's and the car runs and drives excellent! It shifts good and also locks up around 40 mph. And when you decide to launch out of the hole, the car goes "NUTS" ! LOVE my SS4000
