I have a ratchet shifter and my previous setup was for a th400, now i have a 4l80...is there any way to make the 3 speed ratchet shifter work with the 4 speed now?

Park, reverse, neutral, 3rd, and 2nd all work find, i just cant pull the shifter to hold the car in 1st.
