Shift kit questions
Shift kit questions I'm gettin my trans go shift kit installed tomorrow, and I was wondering if it's a good idea considering my suspsion has 160k I havnt checked out my u joints yet, good or bad idea is it really ganna make a good diffrance? My guy is only charging me a 100 bucks to install it worth it?

When you install the TransGo Shift kit, DO NOT install any spacers on the 2nd accumulator. This only makes the part throttle shifts firm to too firm, and does nothing for the WOT shift. With 160K miles on it you will need a separtoe plate. Tell him while he is in there to use the Torlon .250" checkballs from an Ford AOD transmission, as these will not destroy the separator plate as the steel ones do. With the stock diameter torque converter, drill the 1-2 shift feed hole to .082" not .093", as this can make the 1-2 part throttle & WOT shift too firm. DO NOT grind on the manual valve as per instructions. This modification is for 1993 - 1995 units only.

I think it is a good idea. If you have never had any problems before than you should be okay. I would advise that you service your transmission more thoroughly than usual if you do undertake this adjustment.
