Default Looing for opinions

I currently have a 2003 Silverado SS AWD with a Magnacharger on it and have gone through 3 tranny's now. I am now looking at 3 different options with 2 different companies. 1st is just throw down and but an FLT 4L65E Level 7. 2nd is to go local and have Hughes build an equivalent 4L65E for about $800 less than FLT or 3rd, I spoke with Hughes and they can build me their basic street/strip 4L80E (Rated at 900 hp) and adapt it to my 4L65E harness and transfer case with new 3000 converter for about the same price as the FLT level 7 but I would then have to modify my tranny crossmember, exhaust, driveshafts and flash it with a tune that will recognise the 4L80E (I have HP Tuners). I'm looking for opinions mainly in the two companies. I know Hughes and their reputation but mainly only in the powerglide, TH350 and TH400 markets. All opinions are welcome. Thanks

sorry to hear about your tranny problems.....

we tried a sponsor on here & went through 2 of there so called built trannys in our 407 rwhp camaro......they sent a third trans....
we all put our heads together & thought it out......and we decided to send it to FLT to have it checked out on there dyno before we put it in the car......because we just couldnt aford another failure....

FLT said the third trans had issues on there dyno.....so they rebuilt the other sponsors trans to there stage 4 FLT standards.....

we never looked back.....the car is awesome.....the trannys awesome....it was nice to have the car up & running again!

FLT saved our azzes.....

i think your talking to the right guys.

good luck!

Man get in touch with Frank@perfromaBuilt. We have two cars we are running PerformaBuilt trans. one with a
T400 thats in my sig. thats getting a new nitrous 408 and our camaro with the lv2 4l60e. We have had little over 4 years on the tranny. Raced over a 1,000 times and has several bottles of nitrous thru it. Frank is always on here and is always willing to help you trouble shoot if you have a problem or a question about transmissions.

I know Frank is always here to help, but I don't think you could go wrong with either transmission.

But you aren't gonna have over drive with the TH transmissions, so keep that in mind.

Well, I decided to go with Hughes street/strip 4L80E conversion...I ordered it last week and just picked it up today. Tranny is rated to 900-1000FWHP and they did the conversion kit to adapter it to my AWD transfer case. Going to install this weekend and finish up next weekend but won't be able to give a full review until the end of the month (Going out of town on business). I will update after I get back.
