Default JW reccomends a TH400

I talked to them in length and they feel if I'm going to drive my car on the street then a TH400 is MUCH better suited for my application than a TH350.

They also said I'll be less likely to have t-brake issues with a TH400.There reccomending NO low (2.75) 1st gear becuase I might not hook the car with a brake and the low 1st gear combo. They reccomended a 4600 stall for my 4.10/26 gear gear combo.

Total price w/the ultra bell $1977 but I'll need a shifter, modded crossmember and vss along with a dip stick, bolts and tuning.Shouldnt be more than 2600 to do the setup.

Now I just need to really think if I wanna make my car into a TOTAL race car

Don't forget the converter. I hear they're important.

Dont tell me your bored with 427 already Bear?

I thought long and hard and I figure I own my car,Its cosing me nadda.
Why not make it capable of running 10.50 and buy a 2500HD 4X4 Diesel to tow it to the track...

Gonna buy that at the end of 04...

Joel, I totally agree that you stand to have less T-brake issues with the TH400 (although I know how to make it work flawlessly with a TH350.) And I totally DISAGREE that you don't need the 2.75 1st gear. You can control your traction with your 2-step setting. And when you DO have the traction, you'll want the extra gearing advantage.

Lastly, I'm sure you're aware of the extra HP it takes to spin the internals of a TH400. It matters more and more the faster you turn up (as in...when you're in 1st gear or by simply having more rearend gear.)

Steve I kinda felt the same way..
I can see running a 400 but not to run a 2.75 gear setup seemed alittle strange to me too.The guys at Transmission Specialties told me givien my weight (3500lbs) that the lower 1st would help ALOT...

I think your right too.
I'll be doing a TH400/4600 stall with a 2.75 as soon as the 4L60E craps out.Transmission Specailties makes nice stuff and I'm direct wth them so I can get the parts for under $2000.

I'll still need all the little bs too..
Should be badass when its done...

Thanks....

def use that bigger 1st gearing. i really dont think you will have traction problems, esp looking at how your car has run in the past. there is NOTHING like launching off the brake! def get a th-400 for longevity, even though a couple of people have seemed to get away without crushing thier th-350. the price isnt really a difference anyways imo.

Well Joel, thanks to YOU and yuor post, I ahve been thinking AGAIN ALOT about a nice normal Z06 or vert. I am so willing to sell the car for $25k all inclusive, then put down $20k on the Vette and BE DONE RACING. I know it is a matter of time before something else breaks and I am without the car for another 6 months.

Engine and components $13000
Car $15000 with 12 bolt and all other goodies.
Bargain a little down and we are at $25k. SOLD SOLD SOLD.

$2000 for a T400 with an ultrabell and with a converter is a great price, you sure you didn't mean $2500? If you add the 2.75 first gear it will be even pricier.

Its a good price if the 2.75 is included. You can buy a complete TCI TH400 with a brake for ~1150, depending on the converter choice you can spend 450.00 for a 10" up to 900.00 for a killer 9" n2o converter and an ultrabell is only 200.00. The 2.75 1st is like 400.00 so depending on the converter 2K is a pretty decent price.

I would go with the 2.75 for sure though..
