Default Difference in early 4l80e and late 4l80e transmission?

Right now in in the process of swapping a 2003 lq4 and 2001 4l80e transmission in to my 1992 GMC typhoon. I bought a kit with all the brackets and mounts from http://sytyperformance.com/ The problem in that i the parts for the transmission are not fitting. I was hoping some one on this forum could give me some incite on the difference between the pre 95 transmissions and the post 05 transmissions? Are the cases the same length?

sincerely
Kevin B

Here is a link to my facebook with pic for my problem.

The case lengths are the same, but some output shafts/tailshaft housings are different.

Looks like you need to unbolt the trans mount and rotate it 180 degrees. It's offset. Or adjust your engine setback.

On the shift linkage it looks like you need to turn the manual lever 180 degrees also so it offsets towards the pan. Did that part come with the kit? Are you going to use the switch on the manual shaft?

It almost looks like it's set up to use the old style short manual shaft.

I could see an easy fix using a piece of plate steel to extend the cable mount bracket away from the trans and more inline with the linkage, thats if you need the switch.

The transmission mount. Or adjust the engine setback.

You never said exactly what to look at in the pictures. So all I could do is assume the trans mount and shifter cable.

The only external difference with the transmission you have with a pre '95 is the long shifter shaft(manual shaft) with the switch on it.

The tail housing on your transmission has the same mount location as all 4L80E's with the regular tail housing.

Alright i will give it a shot. Also sorry about not stating exactly what i wanted to know. You where right to amuse the trans mount and shifter bracket. As far as the motor goes the placement is almost perfect. I go crawl under her and try rotating the mount. Thanks for all the info guys.
