Default TH400 to LY6 Gen IV

I have an LY6 that came without the original flexplate. I plan to mate it to my TH400 and BTE torque converter. Is there an application-specific aftermarket flexplate I should be using or should I get an LY6 original flexplate and use the spacers to support the TC snout?

I'm not opposed to buying an aftermarket flexplate if there's one that will mate right up.

Thanks for any help

Use a stock 6.0L/4L80E flexplate and spacer.
It will hold the converter properly for a TH400 and it's a strong flat flexplate. You may need to slot the bolt holes.

Do you know if the back of the crank on a gen IV is the same as a gen III? In otherwords, could I use an LQ4 flexplate on my LY6 and add the spacer + longer bolts for the TH400 converter? What about a 4.8 or 5.3 flexplate? Are they the same?

The crank flange is the same.
I have a couple of the 4L80E flexplate setups new.
LQ4 will work, the 4L60E flexplates are dished.

After doing some research I was between buying new parts from GM or getting a TCI setup. Here is the breakdown:
GM Parts To Adapt LSX to TH400
1x 12551367 flexplate for LSX to 4L80E ($87.86)
1x 12563532 spacer for supporting TH400 converter snout ($61.40)
6x 12563533 fasteners for attaching spacer & flywheel (6x$7.95=$47.82)
Quoted by the local stealership. Total is $197.08
Obviously you could get this cheaper buying used parts!
TCI Parts to Adapt LSX to TH400
1x 399754 flexplate for 4L80E includes spacer and fastners ($224.95)
Purchased from Summit Racing. Total is $224.95
I decided to go with the TCI setup because it is not much more, it's stronger, and it's SFI approved. I will however say I prefer the design of the GM spacer since the GM spacer bolts on and the TCI spacer is just a press fit.

I talked to the folks at Summit and also confirmed by searching here that the TCI part number above is correct for adapting to the TH400 and it does in fact include the spacer to support the nose of a TH400 torque converter and the fasteners to attach it to the crank. TCI makes another LSX flexplate 399753 that is NOT correct for this application.

I should also note there are apparently some variations on some of the early LSX crank lengths that I discovered by searching here. Some cranks have spacers between the back of the crank and the flexplate while others have the "spacer" machined into the crank so the overall lenght is longer. I am not sure what applications that applies to - hopefully not mine!

From what I understand, it was only the 6.0L truck motors with iron heads that had the longer cranks.

I just saw a magazine article this week. Another company has brought a adapter/flywheel combination to the market for ls1-th400 applications....the pictures looked like a nice piece, but I forget the company name....Ill look tomorrow.
