OK, had a problems with a surging/speedo swing that I brought up in the gen maint forum in my 02 B4C. I researched dilligently, and seen the VSS could be the culprit (along with a few other systems/sensors). Ramped/jacked the passenger side and found the VSS loose to the point it was wiggling, and the bolt was easily removed by my 55 year old arthritic fingers. Taking it out, I cleaned it and found it was magnetic. I am guessing this sensor uses the magnetized portion to 'pulse' a signal when the gear inside the tail passes through that field. My question is (as I had posted in that post in gen maint) what are the ramifications of this VSS sensor being loose in the tail where it actually wiggles? After I cleaned it, I reistalled it, and now it is rock solid tight with no movement. Going to drive about 50 miles total today, will see if the speedo swing/surging clears up. I hope this was my recurring problem up to and including the erratic ABS light I had a few weeks ago. BTW, there were no DTC's set on my innova 3110 scan tool and a number of grounds were cleaned, with the PCM also being checked for corroded pins as well (looking for a ground problem or a corroded connection as part of my research/troubleshooting), all looked fine. Only one responded in the gen maint forum, but since I found that VCC loose, I ask in this forum what effect this could have on both the tranny, and the rest of the drivetrain/systems.

Any tech's out there who can shed some light on this for me?
