I have the SS3800,not bad at all on the street, just takes alittle bit to get used to.It will blow the tires off at half throttle.Only thing that sucks is I lost 30hp on the dyno with the convertor unlocked.

Seriously? With no other changes? And you're talking about peak HP, correct? Something sounds amiss with that. I've never seen or heard of a Yank converter losing that kind of power unlocked...but then again these 21 blade stators haven't been around long. Still, sounds funny. I'll dyno my SS4000 as soon as I get a chance and post the results here.

The difference between my SS3600 locked and unlocked was 413 to 398.5 hp right after heads were installed. Already had cam & headers.

Hey guys, how about his question? It was about driveability. I'm interested as to whether the SS3600 is the best combo of performance and driveabiliy in a mild mostly street car.

At a 3600, it should be very streetable. But of course.. I think a TP-4200 is streetable.

Lockup and tuning make large stalls very liveable in LS1 cars.

I had an SS3600 for a few months. IMO, that is the perfect converter for a daily driven car. Just cruising around at part throttle, you can hardly tell it's there. When you get on it, you remember it's in there. I dropped .4 tenths in the 1/8th with that converter, and it would have been more with a little more practice.

works great - drives same around town as my old Y3200. I do have a small issue where converter unlocks for no apparent reason on the highway from time to time - not sure why. I had same concerns - but if I had to do over i would go with SS3800 - it drives that well.
