Default Temp gauge

Bought the B&M 70264 cooler and autometer trans gauge. My question is, Im installing the sending unit in the trans pan. I'm curious as to how you guys ran the wiring from the sending unit into the cockpit? I want a good clean look and install. I would appreciate any assistance with this. Also, from researching everyone seems to be wiring it up from the fuse box? I would like to hook up the gauge to the headlights....when you turn them on, the light comes on the gauge.

I ran my wire from the sending unit up and through the grommet for the shifter cable then through the dash over to the head light switch. They light up and dim when the head lights or parking lights are on. Can't remember which wire.

Thanks. Sounds pretty simple.
