Default Choosing a torque converter

Finally finished my 383 build and got her started the other day It's a bit of an old school build, but should be awesome for the street. 383 stroker LT1, stage 2 heads, CC306 cam, built 700R4 trans.

I was planning on going with 373's for gears, and the stall I have in the car now was set for 2600-2800. I was checking out Lloyd Elliots website, and here's what it says for a similar cam...

"Choppy idle. Good mid range and top end power. Minimum 2800 stall and 3.42 gears for F and Y body. Comparable to Comp 306 cam."

Will having a lower stall effect the potential of this cam that much? The car is going to be mainly street driven with some occasional track time. I wouldn't mind upgrading to a higher stall in the future, but what should I go with if I do?

You would definitely benefit from a higher stall with that set up. My choice would be the Circle D Specialties 245mm Billet 4C (3600-3800) stall. It has good street manners, but will put your car in it's powerband with the touch of your foot.

Haha I know, the first owner was really concerned with keeping the car as tame as possible. I'm definitely going with a SS3600 when I get the cash Gears are first though.

stall is one of the absolute best car mods you can do...it made more difference in the fun and quickness of my car than the swap from a budget 355 smallblock to the cammed ls1...and that was 60-70 rwhp difference at least
