Default lightweight th400 vs th350

On ATI's website I noticed they sell a th400 with a lightened forward and direct drum to reduce rotating mass. Anyone know how much that really helps reduce the power loss through a th400.. would it even compare to a th350 without lightened components?

Do you drive your call a lot on the street, if so I would go with a TH400, little more heavy duty......

Not really a ton of street driving, but the track is really far so reliability is a big issue. I've been debating what to do now that my 4l60 is toast. At first I was going to go with a th350 but then after talking to ATI and finding out the cost of upgrading a th350 to last on the street and with a decent amount of power I lost a some interest in it. I am thinking of finding a running th400 trans locally, slapping a shift kit in it and seeing if I like it at all, and if not then going with the th350 with upgraded drum and sprag.

I drove my TH400 setup to the track a few times when I was N/A, I wouldn't do it now that I'm boosted and a built motor and I don't want to **** away gallons of 100octane....

one with a manual valvebody, T-brake, can be fun.......

No, the correct answer is "YES IT IS".

You can get a TH400 with a light weight aluminum drum and all sorts of go fast goodies in it. I have one in mine and it works really well!

Check on racing junk. Always 10-20 of them for sale there.
