Default 4L80E Swap?

Has anyone attempted a Heavy Duty 4L80E swap into an f-body? I believe it is the tranny in 2500 and 3500 HD pickups. I would think it would be a very stong tranny and could retain 4-speed capability, opposed to a TH400. Does anyone think this is even possible?

The 4L80E is almost the same size as a TH400,you need a HD or 2500 flywheel,a converter,a crank spacer(from a 01 or later 6.0 in 2500),a modified crossmember(the pan extends past the 4L60E mount although the transmission is only a fraction of an inch longer),a 99 or later 4L80E(with LS1 bellhousing),a nuetral position switch with bracket,a TH400 driveshaft yoke and either a stand alone computer,custom PCM tuning with harness or a full manual valvebody.I think it's been done in an f-body before,my swap was done in a truck.

No, its been done before. There was a TT C4 SBC Vette running one. I think it weighs a lot.

its something like 30-40 lbs heavier than a 4L60/4L65 and it causes a lot more parasitic loss from the increased mass....also its a BITCH to fit in an f-body tranny tunnel tho it can be done right....on top of that you get TH400 gear ratios which are dead as hell compared to L60/L65 ratios...
