think my torque converter is goin.... help please
so i had my trans built in july of this year. just recently out of nowhere my gears started slipping. at first it was only when i was in higher gears (3-4) i would step on it a little and the rpms go up like it wants to down shift but wont and i step on it a little more then it will down shift. it was only at cruising speeds at first and now it does it on surface streets.
could my torque converter be going out? i dont have any codes except one for my 02 sensor.
i havent dropped the pan yet just looking for some input or if someone could tell me what i should be looking for when i drop the pan.
my car is a 98 z28

It’s been my experience that TC problems usually happen at higher rpm situations such as freeway speeds. I would let the shop that built the trans drive it before I did anything else.
I am by no means anyone that should be saying anything. But with my yank 4k stall, I've noticed in the last year that the lock up clutch doesn't always activate unless I stop, turn the car off, open the door, prime the ignition, and start her back up. Than 75% of the time the stall will lock up as usual and I can drive the car as always. Than other times I need to do this twice. I don't know whether to have it retuned or have a fresh converter put it, but the way it seems, it just needs a fresh tune. Maybe you need the same thing
I have a 98 as well...with a 3500 stall...tci....but mine did exactly the same. One day on the freeway crusing bout 70....rmps kicked up and next thing u knw...I only have 1 & 2....i just pulled the tranny....just gonna put another 60 in...prob send the converter out to b rebuilt...might as well.......dont knw if this is similar to yours....id say just pull the tranny and put another in.....Id recommend a bigger stall....it does make a diff
