Mother drives a 95 firebird with the 3.4

i know this isn't a v6 forum but since its the same tranny basically i figured you guys could help out..

here recently i think the neutral safety switch is getting stuck..
even when you mash the brake to the floor... mash the button on the **** as hard as you can.. and JERK the shifter it still won't budge.

you just have to wrestle with it for a while and it'll finally go in gear.. after its out of park its fine...

what causes this and is there an easy fix?

If you think it's the switch pull the console and check it out. Might just need some cleaning.

Spilled anything on the console?
