Default Wrong transmission?? wtf...

...so I lost 3 and 4th so I dropped my tranny. This is the 2nd time its been down..(just a lil history) first time was when I bought a tci tc 3200...At the time I thought I got screwed cuzz the tc was not lining up w all 3 holes on the flexplate...one hole off by a fraction...I made sure with tci tht I had a tc for my 5.7 ls1..it was, so I just went ahead and made due, bolted up the first two, then used a bolt and nut on the last one, like I said it was only off by a fraction. I knw prob not the greatest idea, but it worked for 4 years now! So now I had to drop it again...I took it to a local shop, all I want is a replaccement, no money for a good built one , the shop says it is not a 5.7 4l60e. Says they think it is a 5.3 4l60e..WTF!! Anybody ever heard of this?? Now I am the second owner of the veh....do not have info on orig owner....but even if he had tranny probs...y would anyone replace it with a 5.3 60...had to change the flexplate too...right??? Anybody have any ideas??? I just told the shop give me a 4l60e for my camaro...I hope I wont have to replace the flexplate as well.......!!!arrrrrrrr

Im not sure about your tranny problem, but with my tci converter i had to elongate one of the flex plate holes. And it bolted up just fine. I didnt need a bolt and nut.

The 5.3 and 5.7 are both lsx based in your year so thats not your issue

yea im not sure what difference it would make unless your "5.3 trans" doesn't have a mount for the torque arm...Something tells me you might need to be looking for a different trans shop

They said it's a 5.3 4L60E because of the input shaft. The 5.3 4L60E's had the LS1 type input in later years.

The transmission you plan on putting back in needs to have an input like this one.

If it looks like this, then you are going to have to change the flexplate, converter, etc, because this is not an LS1 type input shaft, it's an early 5.3, non LS1 4L60E type.
