Default Any full weight 9 sec 4l60s??

Okay I know this is an on going debate and alot people are going to say go 80 or 400. I know those would be a better route.

The purpose of this thread would be to see how many 9sec or better cars or trucks are running a built 4l60/65/70 trans.

Who built it?
How fast?
Weight?
Street miles?

I'm running a flt level 7 with a trans brake. 4000 miles and about 10 low ten second runs. 3850lbs 675whp through 9inch.

Planning on closer to 800whp next season. I'm trying to get the money together for the 80 but its not looking good. Might try the 65 and see what happens

We run a Stage VI 4L65E Trans from RPM in our 3900lb GTO. It has over two years of 9.60 passes making around 830rwhp.

I couldnt begin to count how many passes we have made on it. It made every LS race and GTO race this year, 2 Pinks events, NHRA Unleashed, and multiple T&T passes at the local track. It has been a great unit.

The thing to do to make these trannys last is keep them cool, and make sure they are properly tuned.

We have quite a few cars going solid 9s with our 4L60e transmissions. None of these cars have any weight reduction.

This is a our 2001 Z06 we built from the ground up for Al Broadbeck. Is has a 1000+rwhp YSi supercharged 427 LS7 with W2A intercooler and our Level 7 4L60e complete drivetrain packages. His best pass was 9.03@159.9mph with a 1.44 60ft.

Here is Rodney's (The owner of RPM Transmissions) Z06. It is running a BONE stock LS7 with a D1SC procharger and our Level 7 4L60e. It makes 689rwhp. Its best pass to date is 9.48@145mph with a 1.36 60ft.

This is Todd's (shop manager here at RPM Transmissions) Twin turbo 427 corvette. It makes 830rwhp and is running out Level 7 4L60e as well. His best pass to date is 9.49@151mph with 1.50 60ft.

This is Arun's 03 Z06. He is running a YSi supercharged 402ci engine making 870rwhp with one of our Level 7 4L60e's as well. His best pass to date is 9.04@155mph.

No problem! No we don't vacuum modulate any of our transmissions. It's all in the tuning. We do a lot of adjustments internally but a lot of it is in the tuning like usual.

Thanks Chris and Zack. We love making 4L60/65/70e transmissions FLY! Our goal for 2011 is to put one consistantly into the 8 second range.

Iwould have ti add to that list we had a procharged vette with a RPM at Redline Performance in Daytona beach when I worked there it ran 9.9x. I actually had to go into one of thier units that chattered a sprag wasnt a build error it was just overpowering the part, Car was putting down about 750 they actually helped me put it back to thier specs as the 3-4 took a little hit also however the unit internally was impressive very nice work and very nice people on the other end I was very surprised they gave me thier specs which I would never divulge to anyone I use them in my builds also BTW the unit was taking this abuse for about a year.

You do know that your trans is pretty much a highly modified 65!

I know that. Lol. I meant I'm going to try to stick with my current 65 and see what happens. Its an flt level 7 with a t brake. Its been great and I can't say enough about flt. They have been my favorite sponsor and I consider those guys friends. I've heard great things about rpm also. I consider those to be in the top 5 trans builders in the country.

We have plenty of 9 second cars out there as well running our level 7 build, even a black S10 second truck that went 9.38! We're aiming at putting JR's C5 in the 8 second range consistently this year too! Should be an exciting 2011 for all sponsoring transmission shops here!

Lucky enough to build my own trans but if not RPM would get my business! Though they will be tuning my engine and trans very shortly! Great bunch of guys!
