Transmission for a 01Z

Transmission for a 01Z i have an 01 Z with a 4l60E and want to put a transmission in it with a transbrake. Does anyone have an idea of what trans to run and just what mods I would have to make to the engine and body to make it fit. I have been looking at a 700R4 or a turbo 400.

If you're still running the little stock 10 bolt,you'll 'blow' the rear. A 'transbrake' makes the power transmission act like a 6sp and you know how long our little 10 bolts last behind a 6sp in racing applications.

Post up a little more info about your setup so we can help you better. How much power is your car going to make? What mods do you have now and what do you plan to do in the future? What is the primary use for the car? What kindof power adder if any? Let us know that info and we can point you in the right direction.

ok np well first off i have a moser 12 bolt with 3:73 full suspension. adj torque arm. no power adders, ls6 intake full exhaust. lunati cam. and a few other little things car tuned with cam was 580 to the wheels. right now I have a performabuilt stage 3 4l60E with a few little extras done to it. I run 28 inch slicks and will have skinnies soon on it. anything else you need to know just ask away

no real problems as of yet just know that I am gonna go with a bigger motor down the line and just want to go ahead and find a trans that will be good. Or maybe even down the road put a turbo or procharger. but just know that the trans i have now will not hold up very long after i do that.

yeha i have heard alot of people talk about a turbo 400 w/transbrake but what would i have to do for a ls1 camaro to be able to work off a 400 and what mounts would i need to change if any do you know?
All you would have to do is change your flex plate, converter, transmissions, a custom TH400 crossmember (there are quite a few vendors on here who make fantastic crossmembers) and a correct length driveshaft with the larger 30 spline yoke. You can modify your stock shifter to shift the TH400.

wow thanks for all that info alot more than i was hoping it would of been. guess I will be sticking with the good ole 4l60 until she blows so now off to find out just how to put a trans brake in a 4l60 or what company does that and all that good stuff.
