Stall & specing a new converter question
I don't really understand the magic of converters but it seems that if you have a converter spec'd for X amount of torque and your start making more then it's spec'd for by a pretty good margin then you run into more then just a higher stall speed? Is that correct.
I always thought the stall speed went up and that was it but in my own experience with changing my combination and making more power in steps that it affects the converter in other ways. I've had a 3 different high end converters and when they're spec'd for the combination at that time work great. Once you get outside that envelope the stall speed increases but also they don't hit as hard are seem as connected to the power of the car.
I guess what I'm asking is it's not as simple as saying a 3600 stall converter spec'd for 450rwhp is going to be 4000 stall @ 550rwhp? As a example.
