Thread Revival! A4 shift issues I'm new to the forum and recently bought an 01 Camaro. I've been searching through the site and found this thread regrading delayed shifting on the A4.

My question is this and it was not addressed.
My tranny lags on the 2-3 shift and the rev limiter increase only increases the shift point in the rpm range. So... will a shift kit improve this issue? This was not addressed in the thread and I'm curious.

A lag on the 2-3 shift is usually a mechanical timing issue between the 3-4 clutch coming on and the 2nd band releasing.
There are a few ways to fix this. A shift kit may help or make it worse, you need to know what size to drill the 3rd feed and 2nd servo release holes in the seperator plate.
The best way to fix this is to upgrade the 3-4 clutch, adjust the servo travel, drill the seperator plate holes right, and there are a few other tricks out there.
Increasing the shift pressure through tuning helps also but the common mechanical problems explained above should be corrected first.
