Yank 3600ss efficency
STR is the torque multiplication value at 'full stall',let's use a transmission with a 'transbrake' as an example. With the transbrake engaged and the engine is sitting at 5000rpm and that engine is outputting 400ft.lbs. at 5000rpm,the trans is seeing 1000ft.lbs. with a 2.5str. As soon as transbrake is disengaged and trans begins to work against the weight of the vehicle to get it moving, the str drops almost immediately.
Take this into consideration, torque convertor 'slippage' is a function of applied power of the engine vs. encountered resistance. A particular engine and stall convertor used in a 3000lb. vehicle will have a different efficency value if that engine and stall convertor was used in a 4000lb. vehicle. More resistance=more slip= lower efficency.
