trans install issue
Installing my new trans and have run into a problem. The part that bolts to the diff. is completely different. The old one has the round snout with an o-ring to keep fluid in. The new one does not (Looks completely different) What the heck??
I have a PM photo, buts in on another forum
Thanks

Its an A4 for a 98 corvette. The one that came out has a round snout with an O-ring where it goes into the diff., and the new trans has what looks like a small bellhousing. No way to keep fluid in place
Sounds to me that the wrong case might have been used. Does the new trans have a hole in the case for a dipstick? This would be near the cooler line fittings. If it has a hole then you have the wrong unit for your application. In some cases there is a aluminum plate that goes between the diff and the trans. Normally it sticks in the diff but it might be stuck on your old trans. If this is the case then you might just have to swap it. Pictures of what you have would help here. Vince
Thanks Vince; I was SENT photos to my PM on another forum and have posted them under the same post name, but don't know how to get them from the other PM to here
I read that the difference between a 98 and earlier (mine) and 99 and later case made them NOT interchangable. I believe I MAY have been sent the wrong year trans
I have PMd the vendor and hope to get some info from them if possible
