TH350 converter question
I'm looking at getting a torque converter to go behind my 6.0L. My motor doesn't have the crank spacer on it. I had two different PI Vigilante converters and both needed machined shims for proper converter spacing. The converter I'm looking to get is built for a SBC with a 1/4 midplate. I was thinking that should put me in the ballpark and I may not even need shims with it. Anybody have any thoughts on that?

If you have the crank that sits all the way back, as in 2001 up 6.0, you need .400 or so, and if you have .250, you need .075 to .150ish. I had the 08 5.3 in my 86 TA, i just installed the TH400, the crank is .250 longer than the older GEN IIIs and i had to use a .075 to get the converter where it was not in a bind but had a bit of room to slide back and forward, .150 was pushing the converter into the trans a bit, so i went with 1 shim at .057

I ended up missing out on that particulart converter. I ended up just using an old TH400 converter I got from a relative. It's just regular, so I went and bought some converter shims and a 6.0L flexplate with the spacer. From test fitting, it looks like it'll work fine with the spacer/flexplate and the big shims.
