Default No reverse

Tonight I decided to get my car out. I stopped at a friend's house and when I was leaving I went to back out of his driveway, put it in reverse, and I could feel it go into reverse, but nothing happened (like if you tried to move with the e brake on.) I still have 1-4 and everything was fine driving easy home. Fluid smells a little burnt, but is still a nice red. Any ideas?

There are a few possibilities as to what has happened here. If you do not have engine braking in low I would say that you have an issue with the low reverse clutch. If you do have engine breaking in low then I would say that you have an issue with the reverse input clutch. It is possible that there is an issue with the forward clutch in the input drum that has welded itself together. Either way the trans will need to be removed and repaired or replaced. If you have any other questions feel free to ask. Vince

Thanks Vince.....Yeah I've blown so much on that pile of junk GM calls a transmission I don't wanna spend any more on it. Between no job and school the car will sit for a while.
