Default Th400 in a C5 is it possible?

to put a th400 in a corvette? Ive never heard of it but a guy at work swears up and down he had it in his 01 c5 vette didnt have mods to make it work and ****...Hes known to tell a couple fibs jut wanting to find out!

If so whats needed?

No! Won't work! Its a a one peice bell house and won't fit the transaxle.

arent the corvette trans mounted to the diff?

I've seen powerglide and 4l80 kits to mount to the transaxle, but not th400.

I would call RPM transmissions and ask them. If it can be done these guys will hook you up! HTH Vince

Vince is right. We have put TH400 and 4L80e transmissions in MANY different cars with great success.

Here is a GM Hightech artical on our customer Mike Romaine's C5. A TH400 install is very similar but it doesn't require quite as much cutting to the floor.

YANK built with the help on GM Motorsports the first PG, TH400 C5 kits back in 2004 and the 4L80E conversions in 2006 for the C5 and C6 They fit and work very well and the conversion has been used in many Corvette thru the years.
