Default 5.7 and 4l80??

Im trying to sell my 4l80 and the guy who's interested in it has an 02 2500 van and he says it has a 5.7....he says his current trans doesnt have the top bolt hole at the 12 o' clock position, and mine does.

Hes had some people say it will, and some say it wont work....I have no clue so looking for some help from you guys, thanks.

That's a good question. I would think that it would work if in fact he has a ls1 5.7. I would have him look at the back of the block to make sure that the hole is there. If so I would guess that someone removed the factory trans with the correct case and installed this one to make it work. I would also verify that the cooler lines are in the same location on both units or that will be something else he will have to make work. HTH Vince

i think the factory either cut the 12 o clock piece off flat or there is another case used in some vehs-i have an 01 trans, the top mount is missing, it doesnt look like someone cut it, just a flat area-i have seen some late model trans from Hummers also with it missing

Its the Vortec 5.7 350 L31 he's talking about. The Vans still had that motor till 02 or so. So it should work.
