Default Th350 Failure (video inside). Any guesses?

Went to my local track, got one pass in, everything seemed okay. Log showed the car was SUPER lean. Went 7.8 with LOTS left in it. Made some changes to the tune to add a lot of fuel. Pulled around to make another pass, through the water box, started to heat them up and BOOM. Trans won't do ****, no forward or reverse. Strange enough when you shift from park it feels like it engages the gear, but won't move. It also is making a new noise that is RPM dependent, almost like a swooshing noise.

Did you try to do a burnout in 1st gear?

90% of the th350/400 I see break, do so in the water box. You most likely grenaded the sprag


FYI: The proper way to do a burnout with a RVMB would be to start in 2nd gear and get the tires slightly spinning in 2nd, then shift to high gear and finish the burnout in high gear

yeah looks like you broke a sprag or something related, only way to be sure is to tear it down.

This is a FAVB (forward automatic valve body), and the burn out was in first gear.

Same difference, doing a burnout in first will grenade your sprag. I have no doubts thats what you did.

Sounds like an input shaft/drum...

No movement front or rear would point to an input shaft fracture at the traverse oil holes or the shaft stripping the broach out of the drum or a cracked drum.Both of the failures are common.Because you feel it engage is a sign that you havent sheared off the pump gears or converters pump drive hub.On occasion the rear ring gear broach to the output shaft can fail as well however you would get a grinding noise placing the shifter in park with the engine runnning.
