Default Anybody running a "remote" trans cooler?

I am swapping a 4L80e into my car as part of my turbo build. I am keeping my radiator in the stock location, keeping my A/C condenser, swapping to pusher fans, and of course installing an intercooler. There won't be much room in the front of my car for a transmission cooler, so I've thought about mounting one (that come with a fan attached) towards the rear of my car.

Just wondering how many people here are doing it and what model(s) you recommended? It looks like the units with a fan mounted run from $130-200. Just wondering what everyone's thoughts were on that setup.

I've seen it done with builds like yours and it is really your only option in most cases. Do a search on the term dope mount cooler install and I'm sure you will get some idea's on what you need to do. HTH Vince

i use the B & M cooler with the 1/2" fittings, stick it right under the front bumper (chevelle) at a slight angle, kept the 4L80E w/stall nice and cool

I have heard you get much better cooling if you mount an auxiliary cooler with the stock cooler in the radiator. I cooked my transmission by only having a separate trans cooler.

I used a B&M cooler "Dope" mounted and didn't have any issues while street driving. More recently, I bought a front bumper support from Burkhart which has a13700 Derale trans cooler with fan mounted in the center. There would be plenty room in between the trans cooler and intercooler but I'm sure you don't want a cooler sitting in front of the intercooler. I looked into mounting the cooler in several other spots and you just need to be creative.

I have a remote mounted B&M cooler on my car with a 180* T-Stat control with fan that is wired to run hot after the car cuts off until the temp drops below 170*. I think it's the big boy 24k and it has either 1/2" or 3/4" line. It keeps the tranny at 180-190* in 90*-100* weather in stop and go traffic and drive thru's, and as soon as I get going it goes down to 150-160*. Mine is mounted right underneath the passenger seat under the car. I can't get a picture now but tomorrow when it's getting alligned and on the lift I'll snap a shot for you so you can see how mine is mounted. Hope this helps out some.
