Default Boosting in Overdrive?

Im guessing this is a no-no?

I know the 4l60e would fall apart when boosted in OD. So im curious, how would a decently built 4l80e fair?

An early style, well built 4L80E should be able to handle 800+ RWHP in OD (but be sure and manually shift from 3rd to 4th so the over-runs support gears 1-3).

Hey I have a 4L80E too and it's out getting rebuilt. Are you guys using the stock (PCM 99+) to control this transmission? Mine is full manual with a vaccum modulator to regulate line pressure which it does really nicely. I've tossed the idea around of making it auto, but personally I kind of like shifting it. Since there is no clutch pedal it takes the only gripe issue I have with a manual that gets tiring.

And to answer your initial question, I have floor'd my car a couple times in 4th gear, but not too much as it goes waaaay to fast, waaaay to quickly for a semi-populated highway or freeway in a f-body with stock brakes lol.
