Coan or Precision or even pro torque for your application.
Terry Hendrix (owner of precision) was probably one of the first to recognize the versatility/availability and torque multiplication factors of the 245mm back when he worked w Art Carr.
Precision has a page on billet covers vs ring gears that kinda spells it out.
Do not use a bolted on ring gear style converter.

I don't have any experience with PTC but here are my experience from a couple others.

Coan builds a good converter but from my experience the customer service isn't too great. They are local to me but I don't use them for that reason. I know several other people who bought stuff from them and had it fail immediatly and they didn't offer any support. I had a Coan converter and trans that I ran for 4-5 years with no problems though. I did find out later when rebuilding the trans(full competition version) it was all stock inside except for the valve body...I was disappointed but also surprised it lasted as well as it did.
I had a 9in Edge converter for awhile also. I think they offer great bang for the buck but there are converters out there that are a little better especially in an all out racing application. No complaints about them.
Now I'm running a 235mm Circle D. No track times yet but I was very impressed with the build quality. I was also impressed when they shipped me a 2nd set of torque converter bolts free to fit my application. Chris was very helpful in answering all my questions and making sure I got the best converter for my application, thats whey I went with Circle D this time around.

My bad. I assumed it was for a foxbody with a AOD from his comments.

Funny to hear you say that about Coan. I purchase a lot of converters, and purchased many from Coan. All of their products are warranted, so unless your purchased something incorrect for the application Ive never had much of a problem. One thing they are not into as much is converters for daily drivers but rather strictly drag race vehicles. Another thing that makes their converters a notch above many others is the fact that virtually all of their internal components (hubs/turbine splines/steel stators/sprag races) are made in house, unlike others that just buy parts from companies like tri components or sonnax.
I sent a customers circle d converter back a couple weeks ago for a stall speed adjustment (third time back for the same thing) along with a enclosed letter asking someone from circle d to contact me regarding this converter and expressing my interest in purchasing their products. I never got a call, but I did call them a week after they had the converter to see when it was being shipped back and whether they could do anything to cushion the tcc apply/release. Their solid clutch plates are aggressive, even with the pwm scaled back.

Sorry I kind of forgot about this thread lol. The stall is going to be going in my 00 Z28. Its just a bolt-on street car, but I still want the best performance I can get for a reasonable price. Thats the reason I was asking about PTC, they seem to be a bit cheaper than the other popular brands (non billet) as mentioned before.

I just mentioned the foxbody because I ran an Edge converter in it. I had the converter set up for the car exactly...and it never trapped the MPH it should have. Im not blaming the converter, but it is possible that it could have been more efficient??? Something was definately not quite right with that car, should have ran alot better for what I had done to it.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure I'm still going to give PTC a shot. I'm excited to have a stalled car again, I love stalled autos for some reason.

Another for PTC. I have a nitrous converter from them in my 73' and it stalls just where I told them I wanted it. Also, I had another built for my wifes Scout since I was so impressed with the product and customer service.

I have a couple buddies that run ptc and all of them have single digit street cars and refuse to run anything but ptc. I'm going to give them a shot since they are pretty close to me and see how it works.

Not really sure what you are asking or how to answer this?

PTC makes a bad *** converter. It should last as long as any other converter or until the power limit of the converter you had built/bought.

I haven't had experiences with PTC in an LS1 car, but I had one in my nova behind the old 496 and it worked well. Once I built the new engine, I decided to go right back to them. I sent them my old one back and they gave me a considerable credit towards a new one. I can't wait to try the new one, should make me smile
