Does this sound like a tranny problem???? please help!!
i went to Atco today...made ONE pass in 5 hours...it was the FIRST pass on this new converter and tranny. the car came off the line well and ran a decent ET and MPH for the weather. anyway, on the way out of the parking lot the car just stalled out at idle.
i started it back up in one shot and never had the problem again. later on, on the way home i started to get on the car and it revved but didnt really pull...im thinking i smoked the 3-4 clutches. there's a kind of metallic sound coming from under the car (think of someone shaking a ring full of keys). this noise only happens on acceleration. theres also a sound like something is definitely banging on the floorpan when i get on it...the transmission shifts into all the gears, locks up, unlocks, has reverse, and doesn't bang the rev limiter at all at WOT but still almost feels like its slipping.
Overall the car drives almost perfectly normal if its not driven under any load. under load though the low RPM feels flat and the high RPM feels very flat, to the point where it looks like its revving without really doing anything.
for the life of me i cant figure out if this is something in the transmission or something else broken under the car that is banging and causing SEVERE Knock Retard and making the motor feel flat.
once again theres NO rev limiter, all 4 gears work and the car is completely driveable, yet it still feels like its slipping.
does this sound like a motor problem or a driveline problem????

Thats a tuff one. I wouldnt worry about it stalling the one time. Mine does it every now and then after running it hot. I would drop the starter and check the converter bolts. And check all the bolts to tranny, mounts, crossmember etc..Some people say the Vig converters feel alittle flat up high. What converter did you have and how many miles are on the new one? Tony

i had a TCS 3400 but the problem wasnt with that pass i made (BTW the new tranny/converter have 2600 miles on them)....the car pulled a 111 mph trap with bolt-ons (right with my old converter). the problem came afterwards....SOMETHING is broken i can hear it. i have no idea what it is though..im just conufsed because if the tranny was slipping shouldnt i be hitting the rev limiter at WOT???....yet it still feels like slippage....
i cant see myself breaking a 4L65E after ONE pass at the track....
TTT figured id try one more time....
i drove the car a little more and the tranny seems to work but the car feels down on power....i checked the u-joints, tranny mount, exhaust, etc...still cant find whats loose.im gonna start by replacing the fuel filter and autotapping the PCM to see if there really is KR being triggered...any more ideas????
