Default Stall caused blown trans pump?

So I just bought a rebuilt trans and a week later it goes out on me.. I take the car back to the shop and they tell me that my teeth on the stall are messed up or sumthing and it caused the pump to go out.. Has any1 ever heard of this? I may not have worded it right but I'm pretty close.. Could it just have been a bad/random pump blow out?

You mean the teeth on the flexplate? Your pump can get smashed if the TC gets pushed in to hard during install I believe.

I'm curious about something... You've been since 2010 and have over 100 posts. Says so in your info. Why did you not go to one of the sponsors for advice before you spent your hard earned money?

Not picking on you, not trying to be a dick here.... but nobody wants to see you come here after a shitty experience like that man!

To answer your question very definitively... no you are not pretty close. Your "stall" which is actually a torque converter by definition and not slang does not have any teeth on it. It does have 2 very definitive lugs that engage the pump in order to rotate the pump. It does not have "teeth". The "teeth" can be found on the flexplate that drives the converter. If you need more info so that you can go at them informed, or you want someone who knows exatcly what he is talking about to speak to that shop for you...pm me.

You need to get more info before that shop rips you a new ******* my friend.

Sounds like the "teeth" didn't engage all the way and stripped out the pump. Converter may need to be fixed also.

Call one of the transmission sponsors to your right (RPM, FLT, Performabuilt and others) and get a better understanding of what you're dealing with. Words of advice, before you get any other work done to your car in the future, always call and speak with a reputable shop or individual and get a CLEAR understanding of what you are about to get into. We have all been there contrary to popular belief. Good luck
