1st gear timed for the converter??

1st gear timed for the converter?? guy im buying a camaro from said he put in a trans from a vette that had 30k on it. he said he bought a 800$ converter that goes with the trans. he also said 1st is a timed gear specifically for that converter. umm i dont know anything about transmissions. please try to explain this. its a 4l60 btw
Newer vettes have the transmission in the rear and use a different torque converter than our cars. Not sure how or even if it's possible. And the thing about first gear timing... Never heard of that crap...
