Default which 4l80?

I found one in a 1998 2500 2wd chevy truck... is this one similar or the same as say one around 02-05 years... whats the difference? if any

thanks for any input.

also found this....
Automatic transmission to fit Chevrolet 2500 or 3500 two wheel drive with 7.4L, except HD.

I guess they mean by "HD" that it wont fit the diesel engines.. right or wrong

I know after 97 they changed the overdrive setup in the newer model transmissions and it is a little smaller they also changed the lubrication path and put 1 of the fittings further back towards the rear of the transmission, also that model should have the bolt a p 12 o'clock position on the bell housing which the earlier models transmissions did not have.

Mine is a 95 model thats about to go in my car. I have heard that laters are stronger and heard earliers are stronger. I don't know who to believe. I am gonna find out how much power this one will handle. I found it on ebay for 350 shipped. Check out my thread "4l80 on the cheapo".
