I will try to explain the best I can, I did this on my 56 Chevy with transplanted LS1/4L60E. This is a safety thing so that when the converter is locked up and you mash the brake pedal it will unlock thus letting you stop. The relay is nothing special you can purchase on ebay or any auto electric shop, get at least a 40A, I used SPDT 40A-12V which is standard relay. You will be hooking up the relay to work just the oppsite of the brake switch, therefore when you apply pressure to the brake peddle you energize the relay and remove 12Volts from the ECM. Relay spades will be labeled #85, #86, #87, #87A, #30. Connect #85 to brake light side of the brake switch (cold side), #86 to ground, #87A to the ECM (converter lockup), #30 to 12V ignition, #87 is not used. good luck

Just as conv55 says, it is simple but needed. Search,, Sallee 4l60,, and go to the bottom of the instructions.
