Default Shifter cable help!!!

I swapped an LS1 engine and A4 trans into a 95 T/A and the shifter cable with the LT1 bracket is to long, I checked with chevy dealer and they say cables are the same part number for LS & LT1 so I got an LS bracket that mounts from the top and the hole in the bracket is to small for the cable to lock in so I'm not sure if is the right length, I could just open up the hole but I don't know if thats going to be the right length anyways and if the part number is the same why doesn't the bracket work the way it is?

Please help!

Ok I talked to another parts guy and he said the cables are different so now can anyone tell me if the shifters are the same from LT1 to Ls1?

If you're talking about the lever/arm on the transmission that the end of the cable snaps onto then no, they are different. However, as long as you have the correct lever with the correct cable (i.e. both LT1 or both LS1) it will be fine. If you are talking about the actual shifter inside the car the answer is yes, they are the same.

They cables are the same now.. But if you have the original shift cable from your 95' & wanted to replace it, then you also had to update to the ls style shift lever on the trans... You said you have the ls lever, so you just need to get the new cable, which is 12558306.

I'm talking about the bracket that holds the adjusting part to the trans my LT1 had a bracket that bolted to the pan bolts and the ls1 has a top mount bracket
