Default 4L60E Third gear with high hp?

I have heard that with higher hp cars the third gear clutch tends to burn up fairly fast. i was wondering if there is a fix for this. I have fully built a 4l60 dont wanna toss it in until i address this issue

Short answer - Z-pak man. 3-4 clutches suck...period. More clutches in this pack takes care of this.

Actually there is much, much more to it than the clutches themselves. Years ago I spent over a full year and many thousands of dollars developing a high performance 60e. The problem is multidimensional.

The shape of the input drum will tend to cause the 3/4 clutches to apply the clutches in high rpm situations when it is not in 3rd or 4th. The 2/3 shift is one of the most complicated shifts there is. There is a certain "choreography" or timing of events that must take place so that the clutches are not abused.

Lot's of builders claim to be able to build a 60e for high horsepower combinations, but they fall way short. Thats why these transmissions get a bad name. There are even some sponsors here that struggle with it and havve a high warranty return rate because they do not understand the unit.
