how to take the pump out of a 60e?

Default how to take the pump out of a 60e?

i need to take my pump out of my 60e so i can machine lip off so i can put my aftermarket bellhousing on it, i just dont know whats involved in taking the pump out do i need to take the pan off, any solenoids that need to be removed? any advise would be awesome! also its actually a 65e with 5 pinion planetaries i dont know if that matters or not.. thanks!

The pump is located in the front, the converter pugs into it. I'm pretty sure you just remove the bolts and the pump comes out of the front.

thats what i figured but my dad mentioned a couple other things(he is in th400 land old school) so i dont know if the 60e is different then his 400..i just dont want to mess anything up just pulling it out.

Well the first thing you should understand is that if you are planning to cut on the case you really ought to completely disassemble the unit. You will be generating gobs and gobs of metal pieces that will really screw up your tranny if they are allowed to get inside.

But, if all you are going to do is remove the pump... then remove the bellhousing, remove the pan, remove the pump bolts, remove the TCC solenoid and using a long screwdriver pry between the pump and the reverse input drum until the pump is out.

You need to be aware that there is a very high chance that the input assembly will move around. Meaning, be prepared for further assembly in order to get everything aligned properly for reassembly.
