How to modify dipstick without destroying it?
I'm swapping my 4L65e for a 4L80e. I want to reuse the 4L65e dipstick if I can because it's really close to fitting as-is. It looks like all I need to do is bend the lower portion a bit to make it insert vertically instead of the angle used on the 4L65e.
I've tried bending tubing like this before and always ended up crushing it. Is there a trick to bending it without kinking or crushing? I was thinking perhaps I could fill it with fine sand to support the inside, and use a pipe bending tool, like the kind used on electrical conduit. Maybe heat it up first?
Or am I better off just spending the $60 for a Hughes and call it a day?
I've heard too many complaints about the Lokar, so that's not an option.
TIA
