Royal Purple is fine. I don't recommend anyone spend that kinda coin for fluid though. House brand Dex3 or an equivilant is going to do you just fine.

I am curious as well. I was looking at some motor oil, and looked at the tranny fluids. I seen things like DEX III/M and i seen Dex 6.. But i would just stick with DEX III or as long as it says that its DEX III compatible.

Me, to Jake's Performance,
"What fluid do you recommend in your 4L80? Want to be sure to put the right stuff in it, or will any modern synthetic ATF be fine?"

Jake's Performance, to me (email)
"We use just plain ol trans fluid, what ever you want chris"

Their word is as good as it gets.

I run the standard Valvoline Dex III in my Yank/FLT Level 3 setup. I made sure to ask Andy@FLT, and he said the same as above.. As long as it meets the Dex III standards, your good to go.

We suggest Dex III for the 4L60e. But have several guys running synthetic and have no problems. So as long as it is equal or better to Dex III you are good to go.
