Default I stalled out tonight

So tonight i was driving home after getting Battlefield 3, and i was in the wrong lane.

So i put my car in reverse and hit the gas enough to spin a bit and i believe i had shifted my car into OD before it stalled but it may have been in neutral.

My question is why did my car stall? Is it b/c i didnt wait till it came to a complete stop before switching gears?

or did going backwards fast and trying to go throught the gears kill it?

I started it right after it died and it drove normally the rest of the way, but i was just really scared that i had ruined the car when it happened.

I thought, oh god theres a few thousand bucks i dont have. so what do you guys think

Remember its a A4

I've never done it in my camaro but in my old v6 firebird i was going in reverse rather fast and I was mad for some reason at the time so I just kinda jammed it into drive and yes the same thing happened the car died. IIRC these and other new cars have a safety mechanism that wont let you select reverse if your going over 25mph in drive however if your under 25mph well then this happen haha. Your car is fine
