Question A4 question

I looked and didn't find my answer so here goes.

I have a 98 Z28 and want to replace my trans. What year car or cars or maybe even truck can i pull a transmission out of and have a direct bolt in with no mods needed. The reason i ask is because i was told that there are different types of 4L60e transmissions and they all won't just bolt in.

Generally, 98-02 Fbody. However, I'd be willing to bet that any 2wd truck with a 4.8,5.3, or 6.0 that had a 4l60e in it will work just fine with the correct stall level converter.

I put a 01 T/A 4L60E in my 98 Z28,5 months ago, and everything matched and functions fine.

There is no question a 98-02 f-body trans will be a direct swap. I'm running a 98 trans in my car currently. Its the other years/applications that you run into issues.

Yes Thanx for the info. I'm going to be on the hunt for a trans with low mileage that I can just bolt in without doing any work to it. I just got a small stall put in and I'm sure i will be needing a trans in the near future lol. It just seems that any time I go looking for a part and I put the word Camaro in front of the part the price goes up, lol. I was just hoping that maybe some type of truck trans would be the same, they seem to be a little cheaper.

Car transmissions are more expensive. They are less plentiful, and they have the torque arm mount rear tailshaft, which is less common. They do have the better servos though.
