Question A4 question

I will be replacing my trans in the near future, 1998 Z28. Should I go with a 4l60E or a 4l65E? Also would a 2001 Corvette trans fit?

If you're going with a built transmission there is no difference. If a stock reman the 4l65.

The only difference between a 60e and a 65e are the planetary gear sets. That's it. A 65e is stronger physically.

But, because they both share the same hydraulics you'll need to have a nice unit built to be able to handle the increased power of your combination not to mention the higher stalling converter. A stock unit will let you down in short order depending on your driving habits.

Yes, an '01 unit will fit in your car.

Feel free to give me a call if you'd like to discuss it in detail.

I would imagine the bellhousing, input shaft, tailshaft & housing would be different. Are the main case and internal guts compatible?

WOW this is an old thread. What i have been told is that To use the corvette trans I would need to replace the bell housing and the linkage for the shifter that goes thru the transmission and the tail housing. the reason i was asking was that i had a lead on a Corvette trans for cheap.
