Swap? I think so...
Well here's my story. I've just killed my 7th 4L60e.. The one before this last one lasted ~500miles. Got it rebuilt and now this one lasted 193miles!
I'm aware of the problem more than likely was the builder. I've replaced the PCM and running a stock tune as of now when the 193 mile tramsmission went out. So evidently it's not a tune issue...
Is a "Sponsor" built 60e the answer? Well I'm not sure because my faith level on a 60e is completely depleted indefinitely as of now.
So my question is this...
- how much money does it truly take for a 4L80e/th400 swap?
- what type of rpm and mph differences am I going to see in a th400?( is it "that" awful?) I'd like to at least be able to kno it'll run 140mph.
- which swap is the easiest?
- and where do I need to start looking for parts/info/guidance etc.
It's to the point that if I can't either swap the 60e out at a reasonable price or "Know" a 60e like a sponsor built WILL work, that my Camaro is going to be seeing a sickening future soon. And no that's not the route I want to take.
Any advice, info, or help will be gladly taken.
Thanks guys on helping me save my F-Body in advance!
Also a few more things I can mention mod wise is boltons, wet 150 shot, circle D 4C stall, a 32K cooler lol. Ran a 7.12@95.79 1.53 60' when the trans would hold it.
The transmissions that went out were rebuilt with all the goodies u could probably mention so I'm not sure what the problem is, the idea of a bad trans case has crossed my mind but Id think the "guy" that rebuilt surely wouldve knew if that was the problem? But, who knows?.. I just need to be set in the right direction by the right people so I turned here for help!!
