Synthetic transmission fluid??!!

Synthetic transmission fluid??!! I was wondering if there are any synthetic transmission fluids on the market and what color they are! I just bought the car and I don't know what kind of fluid is in it. My tranny fluid does not look burnt but I wiped it on a white rag and it appears to have no tinge of red to it at all, but is a charcoal grey color? Is this normal....or is it just really dirty.....any info you have would be great
