4l80e in 79 malibu
So, I originally was going to use 4l65e but I wanted the extra safety margin with a 4l80e. I have a core from a 2001 3500hd pickup truck that was 4wd. What parts will I need for a solid build. It is going beheind a 408" solid cam high compression efi. street strip car. Tailshaft and output shaft I need to change. I have rebiult 4l60s th350 and th400's with good luck, So with that being said any help would be great

Yes,
Output shaft, reluctor ring, and tailhousing. Also be sure the plug in the case that feeds oil to the rear bushing has the small hole to feed the fluid. Most 4x4s have a solid plug here.
If the total power is going to be below 750 FWHP/TQ you should be fine with mostly stock hard parts. The key is in the hydraulic calibration and good assembly.
