Alright so I've done a lot of searching and THINK I found the correct answer but wanted to verify with everyone before I started shelling out the cash for this part of the project. So a 4l60e out of a truck or van will bolt right up to the 5.3 I have of course. So all I should have to do is buy the adapter plate and put my current 700r4 tailshaft on it and it will be good to go? The one I have at work is out of an 03 chevy express van which is the same as an 03 extended cab 2wd pickup....which the only diff. between ext. cab and reg cab is the length of the tailshaft correct? which shouldn't matter because I will be using the tailshaft out of my 84 with an adapter? This is all I need to confirm so I can buy it and get this going.

The tail housings are the same from van to truck and short bed to long bed. The only thing you will need to make 100% sure of is that the transmission is from a van with a 5.3L or 6.0L. The 4L60e that are used behind the vortec 5.0L and 5.7L in the vans use a different transmission that will not work behind a 5.3L or 6.0L.
Other than that the adapter and your C4 tail housing should get you on the road.

One thing to keep in mind while doing this project is the fact that the LS1 60E is longer than the C4 60E/700r4 combo's that were originally in these cars. Even the original vet units were a little shorter than other same year vehicles transmissions. With this being said the torque arm is going to be to long depending on where the engine is mounted.
