Default S10 4l60 Behind an LQ4

Will it be a direct swap? If not what needs to be changed? I will be swapping it into my camaro.

I have found two in my area that need to be rebuilt that are a really good deal. one is from a 1997 SS S10 that had a 4.3. The other is from a 2000. Not sure if that was from a 4 cylinder or the 4.3. I sent an email to confirm.... but anyways... will it work from either one of them or only the 4.3? Or will none of these transmissions work?

I know the tailshaft housing will be different and that the gear selector will probably be different as well. Will the bellhousing and input shaft all bolt right onto the LS motor though?

Thanks in advance for the help!

if it is from a 4.3L you will need the gm crank spacer and bolts or the hughes crank spacer to bolt the trans/converter to the lsx engine

How much is the crank spacer? Do you have a part number?

What if it is from behind a 2.2? Will that 4l60 work?

all the info people need about bolting non lsx transmissions to LSx engines is right here:

a 2.2L trans will not work without some parts swaping,,, easier to just stay away from that.

Thanks.

Ok, so I found this adapter kit (http://www.advanceadapters.com/products/pn-712500a/) and it says it won't work with 6.0's that had iron heads... mine had cast iron heads on it. What does that mean?

Well... with a little searching it looks like I'll be adding some weight. Looks like I can only run a 4l80 with this motor... oh well. at least it will hold up to some power.

i think your iron head crank has the wide flange on it and you should only need the flat flexplate to make it work on a non-lsx trans. basically your crank has the spacer built into it

it would be the same as having the narrow crank flange and adding the craks spacer to it like the newer aluminum 6.0L engines use/
