4l60e Hey guys my overdrive in my 4l60e transmission went out on my 99 trans am. My questions are for anybody: would it be worth it to pay the money to get it built? should i just go the cheap route and buy a used transmission out of a junk yard and ride it out for a while? or is there any other stronger transmission with an overdrive as well i could go with that wouldnt be just a hassle to swap out? Any answers or advise is greatly appreciated!
Get it built. I used a Rossler Terminator II for the last 4 years and 400 track runs with no issues. It's back at Rossler for a refresh and upgrade ... since I added a bit more power.

Yeah a quality built 4L60E isn't a bad choice, but something else to consider would be a 4L80E, those are quite strong. You have to think, the 4L80E can be had in 6k+ pound fullsize trucks that have towing capacities of over 15,000 pounds in some applications, plus you can find them for pretty reasonable prices depending on where you look. So, with that said, I feel like an 80E would be a pretty good option as well.
